The till or POS keeps freezing
Often a slow computer, a failing drive or a weak network connection. We find which.
When the till freezes mid-service or the card machine drops its connection, you cannot wait until next week. We look after the small-business tech behind the counter.
A small shop or cafe has less room for tech problems than most businesses. A dead point-of-sale terminal at lunchtime means walked-out customers, not just inconvenience. A printer that will not print dockets slows the whole kitchen.
Many Guildford premises are in older buildings, and old buildings are rarely kind to modern networks. Thick walls, awkward cable runs and a router in the back office mean the till at the front gets a poor connection. We have seen that problem often enough to know where to look first.
We keep the work practical: stabilise the connection, make sure the devices behind the counter are reliable, and tidy up the setup so the next problem is easier to solve. Our business IT support page explains how ongoing help works if you want it.

A risk and a nuisance. We can set up separate accounts and sensible access.
It is safer to separate them. We can set up a guest network.

Solid brick, plaster and old metal fittings absorb Wi-Fi signals far more than modern plasterboard. A single router in the back room often cannot cover a whole premises.
The fix is usually not a stronger router. It is placing the signal where it is needed. A wired access point near the front counter often beats several wireless extenders daisy-chained together.
Where running cable is difficult, there are other options. We look at the building, not just the router, before recommending anything.
