The printer shows as offline
The network address often changes after a router restart. We set it so it stays put.
The printer says offline, the scanner will not send to your email, and the form is due today. Home office tech should not take half a day to work out.
Ask anyone who has set up a home office and they will tell you the same story. The laptop is fine, the internet is fine, and the printer has decided it no longer exists. It is one of the most common reasons people in Langford ring us.
Printers are fussy because they sit between the computer, the Wi-Fi and the manufacturer's software, and a change in any of the three can break the link. The good news is that the cause is usually findable in a short visit.
While we are there, we can check the rest of your setup too. A stable network, a laptop that is not choking on startup programs and a scanner that sends to the right place make a home office feel much calmer. Our printer repair and setup page has more on the printer side.
Book a Printer Visit
Mostly annoying, nearly always fixable.
The network address often changes after a router restart. We set it so it stays put.
Could be clogged nozzles, a worn drum or the wrong paper setting. We check before you buy another cartridge.
Usually a wrong setting or a mail security change. We configure it to the right account.
Rollers wear and dust builds up. Sometimes it is a quick clean, sometimes not worth the repair cost.
Driver and Wi-Fi connection steps trip many people up. We do it properly and test from every computer.
Typically a network or firewall issue. We make sure every device in the house sees it.
Printer jobs should not drag on.
We see how the printer is connected, which network it is on and whether the computers can reach it.
Drivers, addresses, settings or a basic clean, depending on the fault.
We test from each laptop and phone so you know it works for everyone, not just the machine we tested.
Printers are the headline, but these are the things we often fix alongside.
New or existing, wired or wireless, we get it printing and scanning to where you want.
Stronger signal in the study or spare room. See Wi-Fi setup.
Slow startup, broken keys, failed batteries. Our computer repairs page covers it all.
Important documents backed up and easy to find, with a simple folder structure.

Print something small every week or two. Inkjet nozzles dry out when left idle, and a tiny test page keeps them clear far better than a deep clean after months of silence.
Before buying a replacement printer, check what the ink or toner costs per page. A cheap printer with expensive cartridges can cost more over a year than a pricier one with a good refill system.
If your printer is old and the repair cost is close to a new one, we will tell you so. Sometimes the right answer is to stop repairing it.
Most printer visits fit comfortably into the minimum time. If it looks like a longer job, we say so first.
Some settings can be fixed remotely. We will tell you if that is worth trying.
For printers and computers in a home setting. One hour minimum, then 30-minute blocks.
For a registered business or home-office use for work. Same minimum and block system.
New printers and parts are quoted before we order. See the full pricing page.
These are close enough for quick visits.
Answers for the printer woes we see most.
Tell us the printer model and what it does. We will say whether a visit is the right next step.
