Independent Mac repair

Mac repairs from a local Perth tech

We're an independent repair shop, not an Apple store, and we don't pretend to be. What we do is look at your Mac, work out what's actually wrong, and explain it in plain English. Plenty of Mac problems turn out to be simpler than people fear, like a full drive, a software fault or a tired battery.

We work on MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac and Mac mini. If a repair isn't worth doing, we'll tell you. And if your Mac holds important files, we'll try to protect them first.

One thing to know before you spend money: on most newer Macs the memory and storage are built into the main board, so there's no cheap upgrade later. If your Mac is just full or slow, we'll look at other fixes first.

Common Mac problems

What we fix on Apple Macs

Slow or freezing Mac

Often a full drive, too many startup items or an old version of macOS. We check before suggesting hardware.

Cracked or damaged screen

MacBook displays are expensive, so we quote first and tell you if the repair makes sense. See laptop screen repair.

Battery draining or swollen

If your MacBook dies fast, needs the charger all the time, or the trackpad has started lifting, stop using it and call us.

Liquid spills

Switch it off and don't charge it. The sooner we see it, the better. See water damage repair.

Won't start or no display

Could be the charger, the battery, the power circuit or the board. We test each one so you know what has failed.

Set-up, macOS and data

Setting up a new Mac, moving your files across, fixing a stuck update, or recovering data from a drive that won't load.

Yes. We repair MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, plus iMac and Mac mini. Tell us the model and the problem and we'll explain what's involved.
No, we're independent. For most faults that makes no difference, but if your Mac is under Apple warranty or AppleCare, check with Apple first, because repairs elsewhere can affect it.
It depends on the model and the fault. Software problems are mostly our time, while screens and boards cost more because of the parts. We give you a price before we start. Rates are on the pricing page.
Often, but not always. Switch it off, unplug it and don't turn it back on. Bring it in quickly and we'll tell you honestly whether it can be saved.
On most newer Macs, no, because the memory and storage are built into the main board. Some older models can be upgraded. Tell us your model and we'll check.
We aim not to. Most repairs don't touch your data, but if there's any risk we'll say so and talk about a backup first. If a drive has failed, see our data recovery.
